The Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy was founded to assist up to 100 Washington Elementary School District students achieve academic success by creating a small-school community that:
The Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy
opened with 50 fifth and sixth graders in August 2007. The Academy reached it's full capacity serving grades 5-8, with its first 8th grade class promotion occurring May 2010. Currently the Academy serves 75 students in grades 6-8.
The Academy is located on the Royal Palm Middle School campus at 19th Avenue and Butler.
The Academy highlights students who are performing at or above grade level and have the the potential, given specialized, rigorous
opportunities, to excel in all academic areas. The Academy provides comprehensive programs, services and resources to meet both the academic and non-academic needs of our students. Academy students are prepared for advanced level classes in high school and gain skills to make them successful in college.
Students are identified as eligible to be interviewed for the Academy based on district and state test scores and teacher recommendation.
The Arizona Cardinals Preparatory Academy was formed as a community partnership to offer intensive instruction and service learning to help students focus on learning and success. What makes the Academy special are the high expectations and continuous communication among students, parents and teachers. Parents are expected to support their child's learning outside of school, including homework and independent reading
