Our Library's Purpose
The purpose of the Royal Palm School Library is to support our students' education as lifelong learners and readers by putting resources in the hands of students and the school community, encouraging students to read, teaching students the skills necessary to evaluate information, and encouraging student responsibility.

Guidelines and Expectations
In support of our Accelerated Reader program, we anticipate each of our students would read a minimum of 15 minutes each night. When they have completed the book they need to come to the library and take a computerized test to earn points towards their goal.
-Books checked out are due two weeks after check out date.
-IDs are required
**Students who have overdue books will have check-out privileges revoked until their books are returned.**
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a tool that helps teachers monitor, instruct, motivate, and intervene with their students during guided, independent reading practice. AR has been a part of the Royal Palm Reading Department and library programs since 2001 and has helped many of our students become successful readers. The focus is on allowing students to choose from a wide variety of library books - students are able to select and read books that interest them at an appropriate reading level so that students can enjoy reading and improve their silent reading speed and fluency.
**Although AR has numerous tests for books, Royal Palm is limited to the number of tests purchased. In order for students to earn points toward their individual reading goal they may test only on tests owned by our school. To determine whether or not your child is reading an AR book, please contact the library. **
Check out the documents below for a list of all the AR tests we have available at Royal Palm. This is a great resource to have from home as you can continue to read AR books over the summer!
